The Wordless Book

What is the meaning of the book without words?

Have you ever seen a book without words or pictures?

This book of colored pages tells a wonderful story from the Bible about the true and living God who made the world. I call this book the Wordless Book. Each color reminds me of part of the story. Would you like to hear it?

Have you ever peeked at the back page of a book to see if the ending is happy or sad? I have! Let’s look at the last page first. It tells us about a very exciting place.

Gold Page

What color is this?  Right!  Gold.  What does it remind you of?  That’s right!  Something special.  Mom’s wedding ring, treasure.  It reminds me of God.  God is perfect, He does no wrong.  He created you and me!  It also reminds me of heaven, that is where He lives.  The streets are paved with gold!  The most important thing is that He loves you and me!  John 3:16a says,

“For God so loved the world…”

That means everyone, which is you and me!

But there is one thing that can never be in heaven. That is sin.

Dark Page

This is sin.  Sin is all the bad stuff you and I do that makes God sad.  Telling your mom “NO!” when she asks you to clean your room, hitting your brother, telling lies.  These things are all sin.  You are born with a “want to” to sin.  No one has to tell us how to do bad things.  Mom and Dad punishes us when we are bad.  Romans 3:23 says,

“all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. . .”

That means we are separated from God forever and ever because we do bad things.

God has a wonderful plan so you and I don’t have to be punished for our sins.

Red Page

God sent His perfect son.  His name is Jesus.  He was born on earth and lived to be a young man.  He never did anything wrong.  When He was a young man, some men took Him, put a crown of thorns on His head and hanged Him on the cross.  Do you know what came out of His hands and feet when they put the nails in?  That’s right.  Blood.  The Bible tells us in Hebrews 9:22b,

“. . .and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”

Jesus died on the cross so you and I can be forgiven for the bad things you and I do.  But guess what?  He didn’t stay dead!  First Corinthians 15:3-4 says,

…”that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that He was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures”…

Three days later he rose and walked the earth for 40 days, among family and friends! Then he went to heaven.

Now, because of what Jesus did for you, you can have your sins forgiven!

White Page

This is the clean page. This page reminds me of clean things. You can be made clean from your sin.

Psalm 51:7 says: …”wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” Jesus wants to forgive you of all your sins and take them away.

You must receive Jesus.

John 1:12 says..”But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

Receiving Jesus means 3 important things:

1. (Dark page)
You must admit that you have sinned and that you need Jesus to forgive you.

2. (Red Page)
You must believe that Jesus died on the cross giving His blood to pay for your sins and that He rose again.

3. (White page)
You must ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart as your Saviour.

Would you like to receive Jesus as you Saviour now?

Here’s how:

-Bow your head and pray.
-You can begin by saying “Dear God.”
-Remember to tell Him the three important things,

1) I have sinned; forgive me
2) I believe Jesus died for me
3) I receive Jesus as Saviour

When you’re finished, say, “In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Green Page

What does the color green remind you of?  Flowers? Grass? Things that grow?

When you receive Jesus as your Saviour, you have new life so you can know Jesus better.

Second Peter 3:18 says “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”

Did you receive Jesus as your Saviour? If you did, where is Jesus right now? Right, He is with you!

How long will He be with you?

Hebrews 13:5b says;” I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” This means He will be with you forever!

When you sin (do wrong things) again, what should you do?

1 John 1:9 says; “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” You can tell Jesus about your sin and ask Him to make things right between you and Him again.

This special word GROW will help you remember other ways to know Jesus better:

Go to Sunday School/church/Good News Club (somewhere you can learn more about Jesus)
Read your Bible and pray (start with just a little but every day!)
Obey God’s Word
Witness to others (tell them about Jesus!)

If you have just prayed to God and meant it from your heart then YOU will go to Heaven when you die ! You only have to ask Jesus to be your Saviour one time. Please go and tell your parents, brothers, and sisters that you received Jesus as your Saviour and that you will be going to Heaven! You can even tell them what they can do to go to Heaven too.
